That's one feature not provided in the new Word 2007 equation editor
(aka "OMML equation editor"). It can be done, but with a bit of extra
effort on your part. MathType, OTOH, provides this capability
natively, and is an item on the MathType tab in the Word 2007 Ribbon.
Equation numbers and references are linked so that if you change one,
the rest of them update. For more information about MathType, see the
