Default Spellcheck in Outlook Express is for French. Can't change.

Have just installed Microsoft Office 2007. Spellcheck for Outlook Express is
in French. Dropdown menu only lists French. Help tells me Msft. Word controls
spellcheck for the suite. English is specified in Word. Nearly every word in
a created e-mail has to be scrutinized, "Ignore". "Ignore all" does not help.

Word does not "control spellcheck for the suite", but even if it did, it
would not matter because Outlook Express is not part of the suite, so
your question is off-topic here. To answer your question since you are
here, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=932974 "You no longer have
spell checking capabilities in some languages in Outlook Express 6.0
after you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system". You can install a
third-party spellchecking utility (there are many, some free, some not,
just ask Google).
