Can't delete a style!
My document is not currently using "Title 5" nor "Title 6" anywere I can see,
but when I try to delete them, the style organizer sais "Can't delete the integrated style Title 6". I'd like to remove all styles not in use. Is there any way of doing this? Thanx in advance! |

Can't delete a style!
In Word 2000 and earlier, it is true that you cannot delete any of the
built-in heading styles once they have appeared in the "Styles in use" list. Headings 1-3 are there by default, plus any other heading levels that have been used in the document (even if they're no longer in use). In Word 2002 and 2003, choosing "Custom" at the bottom of the Styles and Formatting task pane will open the Format Settings dialog, in which you can select exactly which styles you want to be visible in several different views. The Styles dropdown, AFAIK, still always shows "Styles in use." -- Suzanne S. OMG, that was a REALLY fast answer... Thanks a lot Suzanne!
It's really a pitty it's simply IMPOSIBLE to delete a heading style once it has been used. Word 2000 is a crap... I hate it. :[ "Suzanne S. One way to "delete" the styles is to copy your text (making sure it doesn't
contain any of the unwanted styles) and paste into a fresh document based on the same template. -- Suzanne S. Can't delete a style!
Yes, that's what I did. My brother has Word 2003 so I made a protected
document only with the styles I use and pasted my document in it. Voila... only the styles I want appered! (finally). Still it's too obscure IMHO. Guys at MS should have thought about this already!!
