I take it that you are creating separate documents for each chapter for some
reason? It would be simpler to keep the lot as one document and the page numbers would follow logically. However, you can open the header/footer view and from the header toolbar format page number and set the required start number, then insert page number from the toolbar. Or forget the page number format and insert the following fields by hand using CTRL+F9 to set the field boundaries {={Page}+66} then F9 to toggle the display and update the field result. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Cara wrote: trouble with Word 2002 when using header. typing manuscript.
