Word 2003, outlook 2003 and other programs sound a ringing sound about 3
seconds after I finish on the keyboard. How do i turn this off? It's bloody
irritating!

I have a DELL latitude that I have recently purchased.

Go to the Windows Control Panel, open the Sounds and Audio icon, and
click the Sounds tab. In the list of programs and events, remove any
sounds that you don't want. But I don't know of any event that occurs
3 seconds after typing stops...

If you can't find the one that bothers you, you could just mute the
speaker. Most Dell laptops have a button specifically for that, or you
can use the sound icon in the system tray near the clock.

Thanks Jay - it worked. The program event was an Alps Pointing Device Driver
- I have a touch pad and a pointing stick. i can now use in peace!
