Default deleting ^p before and after table

WORD just drives me crazy somedays.

I have a table below the header. I cannot delete the ^p on top and below the
table.

The top one is forcing the table down and the bottom is giving me a blank
page 2.

How do I get rid of them? Don't know what to try other than delete or
backspace keys.

thanks
