Default Do I need to purchase Microsoft word?

I currently have a Windows XP computer and it didn't come with word or it was
taken off. Is there anyway I could download it or do I have to purchase it?

Of course you can download it.. here is a link to trial MS Office software..
alternatively, you could just go out and buy it..

MS Office and components have NEVER been a part of any Windows installation,
but MS Office and/or components may well have been BUNDLED into a complete
computer package..

If you are not needing the intricate formatting that Word can use, get Open
Office. For the average user it's just as good, is free, and will save
documents in Word format.

What do you need it for?
If to write letters, etc, try WordPad, which does come with Windows;
look under "Accessories" on your start menu.

If you need something more complex, try OpenOffice, a free download
that does pretty much everything Word does. www.openoffice.org. Opens
most Word files.

Otherwise, get your credit card out and buy MS Office.
