Default the "insertion point" appearance in Word

In Word, is it possible the change the "insertion point" appearance to not
flash? Is it possible to customize the apearance of the "insertion point" in
any way?

This is a Windows setting that affects all programs (not just Word).
Start | Control Panel | Accessibility Options | Display.
