Default automatic date changes

I need to know how to stop word 2007 from automatically changing the dates of
documents when I open them. I want all my documents to maintain the original
date but when I open a document it changes the date automatically

That's because they are field codes. Delete the date and type in the date
you want.

Alt+F9 to view the field code. Change the DATE code to CREATEDATE (just type
to edit the code), then Alt+F9 to toggle back and F9 to update.

Using Word 2007 on Vista Home Premium

For a plain text date:
Use Insert : Text : Date & Time
Uncheck: [ ] Update automatically
etc.

For a date field:
Use Insert : Text : Quick Parts Field
Categories: Date and Time
Field names: CreateDate
etc.

For an existing date field:
Right click the date.
In the popup menu, select Edit Field€¦
Categories: Date and Time
Field names: CreateDate
etc.
