Default Synonyms are gone! Help!

I use the synonym feature in MS Word often and rely on it to make my
documents sound a little more intelligent than I actually am. Since the
beginning of this week, I have not been able to view any synonyms in Word or
Outlook. I have used the same sentence as a test on a different machines and
the sentence works fine on other machines, meaning the synonym feature gives
me suggestions, so I know the words are not the problem. I also had my
computer worked on recently (at the beginning of the week) and the synonym
feature worked fine before the repair. The company who did the repair does
not know how to fix the synonym problem. Does anyone know what I should or
could do to repair this feature? Thank you for any help!

If this is in the wrong forum, please let me know and I will repost in the
correct forum.

FWIW, the purpose of a thesaurus is not to provide you with fifty-cent words
to make you sound more intelligent; it's to help you recall words you
already know and know how to use. There is nothing that makes you look
*less* intelligent than a word you got from a thesaurus that doesn't mean
*quite* what you think it does.

Default Synonyms are gone! Help!

There are at least two possible solutions:

1. Select the sentence in Word, and look at the language name near the lower
left-hand corner of the Word document. Is the language and country name
correct? If not,
- Click on the language name.
- Select the language and country name that Word should be using.
- Click on the "Default..." button.
- Click "Yes"

2. Something is wrong with the installation.
- Close Word and your other Office applications, then go to the Add/Remove
Programs option in Control Panel. (Might have a different name, depending on
which version of Windows you are using.)
- Find Microsoft Office in the list of programs, and click on "Change"
- Choose "Add/Remove Features" in the Office Setup dialog.
- Click the pluses to expand "Office Shared Features"
- Click on the down arrow next to "Proofing Tools", and select "Run All From
My Computer"
- Click "Continue" or "Next".
- Wait for Office to reinstall the proofing tools.

If that doesn't work, then you can also try repairing the Office
installation, instead of choosing "Add/Remove Features."

I hope this helps.
