Default PDF editor

I needed to edit a PDF file and downloaded a couple of editors.
Neither of them did anything beyond install a standard printer driver
which didn't allow for editing.

Is there a free editor available, please?

No. You need to pay to edit.

Thankfully, the most powerful expert systems have not replaced the functions
of an editor!
