Default Lost document when auto update

I left a document on the screen but it was not saved. Over night my PC
updated and did an auto restart. When I logged in this morning the document
was not there. Is this lost or has it been saved somewhere?

If the document was never saved there is nothing to recover, so you are
probably out of luck. Note that Word *does not* save documents
automatically. If Word crashed there might be AutoRecover (*.asd) file left
on disk, but the chances are small.

You may want to read these articles:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/AutomaticSave.htm and
http://www.gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm.
