Default Searching entire document

I find that when I search for something in a document with footnotes, Word
doesn't search the footnotes. I have to click in the footnotes and run the
search again, which is a pain. There was a time it used to and I don't know
if I've unclicked something. Is there a way I can get back to having it
search the entire document? I'm using Word 2000.

Thanks.

Hi Suroora,

There was a time it used to and I don't know
if I've unclicked something.

Hardly.
See: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...ceAnywhere.htm

Sorry, there is no easy solution, IMHO.

Actually, if you let it search the entire text, it will then begin to
search all the footnotes after it is done with the main text.

So if it searched, found something on page 5, but seems to have
not-found the note on page 4, that's standard behavior. Let it search
all the text and then it will go back and search the notes. Spellcheck
behaves the same way. Don't select anything first, though.

Word doesn't search page by page--if you want to know why, see he
