Default How to open a Word template (.doc) in a html link

I like to know how i can force the intenet explorer to open Word with a
template (test.dot) .

href="://xx.xx.x.xxx/test.dot"Test/A

opens the test.dot file, i want that Word starts with the template test.dot.

Any one ???
