Default Word 2003 will NOT retain the changes I've made

I'm working in Word 2003 and I have tried to set the following options to ON
in the Spelling & Grammar tab "Ignore word in Uppercase," and "Ignore words
with numbers," however, every time i check the options they are set to OFF.

How do I get Word to remember the options that I've set????

Please HELP!!! (I feel Im going crazy)

If Word is not remembering your settings, either the Word Data key in the
Registry is damaged or there is an add-in messing with your settings. To
test the first, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm. If rebuilding the
Data key doesn't help, then you'll need to experiment with moving add-ins
out of the Startup folder until you find the culprit.
