Default Can't use .wps files, what should I do?

I must have accidentally erased some necessary file. Everytime I try to
access the word processor protion of my works I get the message. "ordinial
309 could not be located in the dynamic link library LTKRN13N.dll. This might
be easy to replace but no works disks came with my computer. Is there a place
to obtain a copy of this file ?

I have a new Toshiba Satellite with Vista and Works (not sure which version,
but the date on it is 1/2005). I need to create text and rich text (rtf)
documents that do not have the .wps extension, but that's apparently the only
type this word processor has when I click "Save As". Should I update to a
new version -- if so which one? I also have a trial version of Office
installed, but I don't need anything other than a word processor.
Please help, I have a deadline to meet, and I cannot use the wps format.
Thanks.
