Default How do I insert tabs or indents AFTER text?

In Wordperfect I can put some text on a line and then insert a tab or an
indent. I do this a lot in order to organize text in my work.

I can't figure out how to do this in Microsoft Word. Does anyone know how?

This is perfectly possible in Word. Please tell us how you're attempting to
do it and what unwanted results you're getting. The easiest way, generally
speaking, is with the ruler; see
