Default Versions in Word 2007

What happened to the File Versions feature in Word 2007? Has it been
replaced with something else? I thought that was a great feature.

Versions were a good way to get your document corrupted. (All your eggs in
one basket - not good)

What you should do is SaveAs with a version control number. We use the date.
Then you can compare the documents using the Compare feature found on the
Review tab.

apparently, it was not used extensively (enough), and was discontinued
for Word 2007.

Personally, I didn't see any benefit at all of "Versions" vs. "Save As"
(and, on the contrary, more threats to the file integrity if you add too
many versions into the binary format).

Greetings

I had heard of corruptions but didn't experience any myself. It was nice way
to save just changes for multiple versions without having to duplicate or
triplicate entire documents.

One rationale I read indicated that this capability had been
replaced/superseded by capabilities in SharePoint
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...85851033.aspx). Of course,
this then means that only those with SharePoint now have the "replacement"
capability. :-\

So... if your company has SharePoint available, you're all set. ;-)
