Autocomplete function in Word 2007
Hi Microsoft, (and everyone who's effected by this)
Can you please tell me why the Autocomplete functionality which was available in Word 2003 is no longer available in 2007 ? After reading all the threads on the discussion groups several customers are asking for this functionality to be reinstated. My wife and I require this function for work and since upgrading it no longer works even using the F3 function key so I've got a good mind to revert back and get me money back. Is there any chance that this functionality could be returned in the very near future as a patch update or is it dead and buried ? Why was this functioned removed in the first place ? It drastically cuts down on typing time and was easy to use, just type text and the alternate sentence or word dialog box appears, select correct item hit return, BINGO. It was easy to populate your alternative sentence structures too. I very much looking forward to your comprehensive reply. Autocomplete function in Word 2007
Microsoft does not monitor this forum, but is aware of user complaints about
this. It may be addressed in the next issue of Word Your options are to pick the entry from a list, type the first unique characters of the autotext name and press F3 (which does work), use autocorrect instead - or get your money back. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org PaulS wrote: Hi Microsoft, (and everyone who's effected by this) Can you please tell me why the Autocomplete functionality which was available in Word 2003 is no longer available in 2007 ? Autocomplete function in Word 2007
If you click on the "Office" button, top left of the screen, then click on
the "Word Options" button at the very bottmo of the drop down list, then "proofing" then "AutoCorrect Options", then on the "AutoCorrect" tab you can enter your preferred shortcut(s) and the text you would like each to be replaced with. You'll have to do each one in turn which may be time consuming, but quicker than typing it in full every time. Took me hours to find it originally! You can also add the autocorrect dialog to the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar)
which will save time. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Andrew Ball wrote: If you click on the "Office" button, top left of the screen, then click on the "Word Options" button at the very bottmo of the drop down list, then "proofing" then "AutoCorrect Options", then on the "AutoCorrect" tab you can enter your preferred shortcut(s) and the text you would like each to be replaced with.
