Newspaper columns
I am using two newspaper columns in my Word 2000 document. On the last
page, for some reason column two insists on beginning way before column one has filled up with text, before the bottom margin has been reached by the text of column one. It's almost as if Word is trying to balance out the two columns in length, trying to make them the same size on the vertical page. I just can't pull the first paragraph of column two down to the bottom of column one where it belongs (and where it can easily fit!) Any ideas? Thanks much. |

Word doesn't balance columns unless they are followed by a Continuous
section break, and you can override even this in Tools | Options | Compatibility. -- Suzanne S. You can clear the options for "Widow/Orphan control" and "Keep lines
together" for the current selection, on the Line and Page Breaks tab of FormatParagraph, if you haven't already. Does this give you the desired result? Note that if you are familiar with paragraph styles, you can make the above changes in the style definition(s). -- Stefan Blom "Rick Charnes" wrote in message om...
