Default Multilevel List Questions

I have created a few multilevel lists in a Template where I have created
mutliple styles.

Can a Multilevel List be deleted? How?

When Defining a new Multilevel List there is a box labeled "ListNum field
list name".
What is the purpose of the "ListNum field list name"?
Is it necessary to have a "ListNum field list name"?

No, it isn't possible to delete a numbered list or, strictly speaking, its
underlying numbering scheme, the so-called list template, once it has been
created in a document.

However, you can do the following to get rid of list templates that are no
longer applied to text or linked to styles: Copy the document contents,
except for the final paragraph mark, into a new file.

The procedure actually recreates the contents in a new file without any
"garbage" stored in the final paragraph mark; the exact same method can
(sometimes) be used to fix a corrupt document.

If you specify a "ListNum field list name" you can insert the numbering
format associated with a particular list template via a LISTNUM field (for
more on LISTNUM fields, see Word Help). Naming the numbering scheme is
certainly not necessary, but at least in older versions of Word it was
assumed to make the numbering definition a bit more stable.
