Default I don't want Word to exit when I save document.

In Word 2003, whenever I close a file, Word also closes. So if I want to work
on another document in Word, I have to re-open the program. I have looked on
all the menus for a setting that says somethings like "Automatically exit
program when closing a document" but I can't find anything. The Help function
is no help at all. I would like the program to stay open when I close a file.

Are you closing Word by clicking on the large red X button? When you have
only one file open there are 2 X's. Click on the smaller black inside one to
close the file only. Or use the File menu and select Close. Does this help?
