Default how do I unshadow a check box in word?

When using check boxes in a form in MS Word they print in a gray shadow. How
do I unshadow them?

Unprotect the form and click on Form Field Shading on the Forms Toolbar and
that should do it for you.

Default how do I unshadow a check box in word?

I tried that first. It turns the shading off for the rest of the document,
but for some reason all the check boxes (in this case on a fax form) still
remain shaded.
