Default Continuous Section Break without Break in Columns?

Is there a way to make a continues section break that will not cause a break
in the columns?

I want to change the headers several times in a columned document, but not
change anything else. In other words, I want the columns to keep continuous
before and after the section break, to look like this:

1 5
2 6
3 7
4 8

NOT:

1 2 [break]
3 5
4 6

No, that's not possible.

What you may be able to do is set up headers, using StyleRef fields, that
change without needing section breaks. It depends on exactly what you need
in the headers. See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm.
