Default "save as" malfunction

In Word 2002...when I choose save as and open a new folder to place document
in I automatically loose the original name of the document which is replaced
by the name of any document I pass my cursor over.

Are you sure that you are not clicking on the file names rather than just
passing over them.

A definite click of the Left mouse button is required here to select the
name of a document in the folder and for the name of that document to appear
in the filename box.

Hope this helps.
