--A Find & Replace Question--
Hey guys,
I am constantly editing rtf & html ebooks with word. Every document for some odd reason has a couple of areas where there is an extra space in between paragraphs, here's an example: Hlkjlkjk.......................................... ......................... .................................................. .......................... .................................................. .......................... ......................klklkl. Koipopio.......................................... ......................... .................................................. .......................... .................................................. .......................... ......................ppopop. In the example above there are two spaces between the 2 paragraphs when their should only be one. This happens about 2 to 3 times per document & is a little time consuming to search the document for each one. I figured out how to fix this by using the Find & Replace tools. I would open up Find, then click on the More button. Then I open up special & choose 1st paragraph mark (^p) & 2nd white space (^w). It looks like this in the find box: ^p^w This has been working perfectly, but all of a sudden it can't find any of them, even when I know for sure that their are 2 to 3 in the document. Does anyone know whats up with this? Any help would be appreciated, not to mention save me alot of time. Thanx, KlikThis |

maybe they are line breaks instead of paragraphs. Try ^l^w.

Check the paragraphs (Format | Paragraph) to see if they have any Space
Before/After. You'll find this sort of issue much easier to troubleshoot if you have nonprinting characters displayed; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm -- Suzanne S. Thanx for both of yalls help on this one. I finally got it, & here's how I
did it if anyone else is having the same problem. Went to: -- Tools Options Compatability Recommended Options For: & chose Word 2003 -- Then I put a check in each one of these boxes: * Don't use HTML paragraph auto spacing * Show hard page or column breaks in frames * Suppress extra line spacing at the bottom of the page * Suppress extra line spacing at the top of the page * Suppress Space Before & After a hard page break or column break * Use link breaking rules So now the problem is solved, & I really appreciate the help yall gave me. Thanx, [ ...::: KlikThis :::... ] |
