Width between tick marks on ruler
Running Word 2003, I would like to change the width between the tick
marks on the ruler from the standard 1/8" to 1/16". I know that I can change the tab stops, but I want to change the actual appearance of the ruler onscreen. |

Hi, I'm afraid you can't influence the appearance of the ruler, though the appearance will change automatically if you change the horizontal grid (Drawing toolbar Draw menu Grid...). Word calculates with 1/2 pt precision internally, AFAIK. But if you define a grid, Word seems to space the tab stops on the ruler a minimum of 6 pt apart it seems (= 1/12"). Smaller values seem to be ignored. So 1/16" doesn't seem to be an option. Another problem is that the tab stop dialog rounds the tab positions to two digits, which means you run into problems with 1/16" (0.0625"). Actually, even 1/8" (0.125") is problematic and gets rounded in the display to 0.13". Maybe time to change to the decimal system? g Klaus |
