Default Word - Printing

I'm printing from Word to an HP printer. If I print for example fifty of one
document, close Word completely, go back into Word with a different document
the printer settings retain the fifty copies. If I don't notice it then
prints fifty copies when I only want one.

Does anybody know why this would happen.

I do have the latest printer drivers and Office service packs.

Thanks,

Alex

Nothing to do with Word, which always defaults to one copy.
