Dates in the Footer
I know how to insert a date in the footer of a document, but wondering if
Word can automatically change the date of ONLY a page in a document that is updated...not the entire document. Would be very helpful to know when certain info is updated, but also to keep the last time other pages were updated. Thanks for any advice. JT |

JT Because a footer is a property of a section, not of any specific page, the only way you'll be able to do this is if every page is a separate section (that is, insert a section break to separate each page from the one before and after it) and turn off the footer's Same As Previous setting. Also, you won't be able to use a date field to mark the changed pages; you'll have to type in the date (or insert and then unlink a date field so it can never update again). Frankly, this is so much trouble and so likely to lead to an unstable or corrupt document that I'd strongly recommend against it. Instead, keep a table at the beginning or end of the document that lists the changed pages and the dates they were changed. Finally, be aware that Word doesn't guarantee that page breaks will always fall in the same place if a document is opened on different computers or with different printers selected.
