Default how to get list in word in alphabet order

I am new at this. How do I get a list of names in alphabet order in
Microsoft Word when not typed in that order? I asked this question before
but do not know how to get a response

Select them, then select Sort from the Table menu. (The items don't need to
be in a table.)
