Default Can section page 3's be in header and document page #'s in footer

I want to have section page numbers in the header and then document page
numbers in the footer. I can't seem to figure out how or if this is
possible. I've tried section breaks with little success. Thanks for any
help.

Yes it's possible, but I've yet to meet a reader who thought it was a good
idea. On top of which, the method will fall apart if someone else takes over
the maintenance of your document. For what it's worth:

1. Bookmark something one the first page of each section.
2. For the section page numbers, use a calculation field like: { = {
PAGE } - { PAGEREF [Bookmark] } + 1 } where [Bookmark] is the bookmark for
that section.

You need to do this separately for each section, unless someone can think of
a way to do it using a StyleRef.
