Printing problems
When starting a new instance of MS Word, and editing or creating documents, the printer selected is always the last one used. Is there anyway to change this to always go to the default printer?

Hi Giot,
When starting a new instance of MS Word, and editing or creating documents, the printer selected is always the last one used. Is there anyway to change this to always go to the default printer? No. Word actually changes the default printer for the current session when you choose a printer. Giot
Goto Start | Printers and Faxes - Right click on the printer you require for the Default. Choose 'Set as Default printer' from menu. There shouldn't be a problem with setting your Default printer, within MS
Word, no matter what version is used. You can even set defaults, and save your settings for the speed, quality, and color. To save on ink, and time, I have mine set to print, in Grayscale (black & white only), and Dither for faster printing. Sometimes I'll lighten the Grayscale settings, to save on black ink. It may not look good, but normally, all I want is the information. Printer terms may vary, depending on the manufacturer, but it can be done. I've done this for years, both on and off-line. Check your printer manual for more specific instructions. As Cindy says, if you open Word in a new session and change to a different printer, it stays with the printer until manually changed. However, the answer is to use a macro to sort this out. For example, if you are switching between various printers, you should add a PRINT button for each printer you use. If it is to print a Fax, then the macro for faxing should switch to the fax driver, print and then switch back to the default Windows printer. If it doesn't, it is badly written.
