After routinely using Word's find and replace command (for years!), the
command has ceased to function. It won't find anything I search for and,
therefore, won't replace either.

Have you checked to be sure you don't have any 'extras' in place, such as
formatting specifications? If not, click the More button, clear any unwanted
checks &, for both Find as well as Replace, click the No Formatting button
if it is active.

Another possibility is that you are working in a Protected doc - in which
case Find should still work, but Replace would be inactive.

If neither of these applies, be sure to indicate which version of Word and
exactly what "ceased to function" refers to.
