Default Task Pane

Someone was messing with my computer at work and made my task pane in Word
2003 go away. How do I get it back? I find it very useful most of the time
to have it there.

Thank you,

Teri.

Default Task Pane

Press Ctrl+F1 to toggle in on/off. To make it show at startup, choose
Tools - Options - View, and click the first option, Startup Task Pane. If it
still doesn't show at startup, then it's possible that the "someone" added a
global add-in. Check Tools - Templates and Add-ins, and see if there's
anything there you don't recognize.

Default Task Pane

Thank you so much for the quick response. Ctrl+F1 is not toggling and when I
checked view it is already checked. When I check Tools, Templates and
Add-ins, there is nothing there at all. Should I call the company's helpdesk
and have them maybe reinstall Word?

Teri.

Default Task Pane

If the Taskpane Controller dosen't solve your problem, then you might have
corrupted registry entries that sometimes cause some elements of Word not to
appear. Try the diagnostic steps shown here to see if you can narrow down
the problem:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm

Note that despite the fact that this is named "Problems Opening Word," it's
really much broader than that. Some of the same issues that can prevent Word
from opening properly can cause other problems as well.
