Default My cursor has turned into a horizontal bar; how to change back?

I had been experimenting with key combinations trying to get an "m"-dash. I
have no idea what my cursor's behavior will be like with this new "horizontal
bar" look.

I'm using Word 2003.

I tried using Help, asking for "cursor," "cursor setting," and "pointer
setting," and got back unusable tips.

Thanks in advance
