Default AutoText is Empty (Word 2000 SP-3)

I have several documents where AutoText (e.g., filename) is empty. I cannot select any AutoText to be inserted. If I create a new blank document, I am able to insert AutoText. Please help.

Please do not post attachments.

The usual reason for this is that you have saved a document as normal.dot.
Only Word can create normal.dot. rename normal.dot to oldnormal.dot and
allow Word to create a new one. Then use the Organizer to copy your
personalisations from old to new.

The usual reason for this problem is that you have saved a document as
Normal.dot, but if you see AutoText entries in a new blank document, then
that is not the issue, and since you have "All active templates" selected,
you should be seeing the entries from Normal.dot, so I'm stumped.
