Smart tag for Date

I posted this before, but can't find it now.

I have checked the box for Dates in the Smart Tag window under Tools, Auto
correct options.
When I type in a date, example: August 1, 2003 (woth or without a period),
the red line does not appear under the date. Any suggestions?
