Default Formatting a footer with a drawing?

Hello Everyone,

Using Word 2002, I created a footer with colored text. One logo-type of item
required a small vertical line between two words.

This looks like: XSL | Worldwide, Inc. where the vertical line had to be
grey and longer than the font size which is purple font. I drew the grey
line and dragged it between the words. Everything looked perfect when the
footer view was selected.

However, when I click off of the footer to a regular page view, the color of
everything in the footer is grey. So I lost the color of the text.

Does anyone know what I might do to show the color in the regular page view?

Thanks a lot,

Bob

This is by design. The only way to see both document body and header/footer
in full color is to print it or view it in Print Preview.

Thanks Suzanne. I went back and noticed this effect with previous documents
as well.

Is there any way to show color in the footer on the screen? If not, why do
they do it this way?

Thanks Again,

Bob

This is by design, as a visual cue as to which layer you are working in (or
which layer certain elements are in, given that header/footer contents can
appear anywhere on a page).

Thanks Suzanne,

But how do people set up a footer so it can be seen in color for on-screen
reading? I guess a PDF would do it but I would think that Word would permit
a view that merged the layers. Any ideas on how to show a footer on-screen
like that?

Thanks,

Bob
