Default Margin Error Caused by Word Version or Normal template differences

I am trying to create a pdf document from Word, but I need to create the form
with portrait orientation with custom page dimensions (i.e. 11X8.5 instead of
8.5X11) so I can import the form to OneForm software. I need to keep the
portrait orientation, but I keep getting an outside the margins error. The
Tech Support folks at OneForm don't get the outside the margin error when
they do the form in Word. They are using Word 2000 and I am on Word 2002.
Any idea how to fix this? I didn't really want to get a copy of their
Normal.dot file and I'm not sure if this would help anyway. Thanks for the
help!!

Set the PDF driver as the active printer before setting your custom page
size

Hi Graham.

Hope the weather in the UK is better than it is here today. I tried setting
the Adobe printer as my default printer and I'm still getting the outside the
page margin error. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for the help!!

I have no idea what the weather is like in the UK - I have not been there
above a few days for several years Here in the Eastern Mediterranean it
is about 20 degrees ,with wall to wall blue sky, and we are desparately in
need of a lot of rain, or we won't be washing in the New Year

I set the active printer (from the print dialog) to Adobe PDF, formatted the
page as you described and there were no error messages relating to the
margins?

Could the problem have something to do with our normal template? If it
might, I could rename the normal template to something else and reinstall
Word 2000. Hope you get some rain soon. It isn't fun without water!! We
got four more inches of snow with more on the way!!

Thanks for the help!

The problem is almost certainly related to the printer driver. The currently
active printer driver determines what pages can be setup and what the
margins on those pages may be. If as I suggested, you use the Adobe PDF
driver as active driver, it does not have the same limitations asa printer
driver and you should be able to set both an unusual page width and zero
margins without it getting upset. By all means try renaming normal.dot to
normal.old and see if that helps. Re-installing Word is unlikely to achieve
anything useful and should be considered as a last resort. The usual trouble
shooting tips are at
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm.
Unfortunately I do not Have Word 2000 to check, but it works as stated with
2003 and 2007.
