Default Can I recall a file if I mistakenly overwrote that file?

While saving a file, I mistakenly used a file name already in use. Can I
retrieve the first file? I've tried using the "version" under the File tool.
No luck. Can anyone help before I have to redo all of my work?

If you save to a filename that already exists, you'll get a warning. If you
ignore that warning the original is lost.
