Default recoloring (lines in) pictures no longer works in Word 2007

In Word 1997/2003 you could create a diagram with text. In Word you might do
it black on white. Then if the same diagram was copied to Powerpoint you
could change the text color by copying the diagram as a picture and changing
the text color within the picture. This facility has disappeared from Word
2007 though the Help function suggests it is still there. Any ideas?

Many thanks
