Default How do I elimnate gray "tablet lines" from my Word document?

For some reason gray tablet-like lines are appearing whenever I open a new
Word document. You can't see them in Print Preview though. How do I get rid
of them.

Display the Drawing toolbar. Click the Draw button at the left end and
select Grid. In the dialog that appears, uncheck "Display gridlines on
screen".
