Default Templates in too many languages. Only need English.

Hey Charles,

I didn't find anything in the template link you provided that lead me in a
direction to answer my original question.

Thanks for trying. The only templates I use are the installed templates
found in the General templates link, and unfortunately, it looks as if I will
just have to sort through all of the different languages to get to the ones I
want.

I guess if I have enough tiome to type this I can go through every
conceiveable template I might use and copy it to another folder and tell word
to look there to keep up with all of the new individual files. Seems like
there would be an easier method of turning of items written in languages
foreign to me.

I can't tell you if there is add/remove components functionality left on
your machine without looking at it. Check with your IT department.

Otherwise, move your own templates, the ones that you use, into folders in
your user templates folder. They will then be listed under tabs other than
"General." See the templates article I refered you to earlier.

There's nothing in the D:\Profiles\DaltonC\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates directory but normal.dot

I'm an end user in a too big for it's own good company network. I can't
install anything. Most machines are configured by folks 3,000 miles away.
There are no install CDs to be had here.

Is there some "add/remove components" functionality on my machine?

Or am I left to cypher through 147 choices, (yes, I counted them), each
time
I try to use a template?

Thanks for the reply Charles.

First, look in your user templates folder (you can find this by looking
under Tools Options File Locations). It is the folder that contains
normal.dot and is the user folder whose contents are displayed under the
General tab. Does it contain the templates you don't need? If so, move
them
to another folder. If not, they are probably "installed" templates.

Built-in templates are installed or uninstalled. Try doing a custom
install
and selecting only the groups of templates you plan on using. Also do not
install languages that you are not using.

Using Word 2002 on an XP networked computer. When I create a document
by
using the new command and selecting from General templates, I have to
sort
through a myriad of templates in german, japanese, etc...

I only want to see the english templates. My default language is set to
english in Word and Windows.

Any ideas?
