Show task pane
In Word 2002, Windows XP, after I start Word:
when I click on "View/Taskpane" a column opens on the right that shows the previously opened documents, new documents, etc. This used to appear automatically when I opened Word, but now I need to specifically open it after starting Word. Where do I tell Word to have that Task Pane appear automatically when I start it? Help does not tell me how to do that. It only discusses the "Styles and formatting taskpane" which I do not think is this. Under Tools\Options, I already have under the view tab the "Startup Task Pane" selected but it must not refer to this document taskpane because it still does not appear on startup. Thanks. Jeff |

Add-ins can override your setting. In that case, you need to get the Task

Thank you. That must be it.
How do I find out what add-ins I may have added and remove the offending one if I do not use it? I probably only have one add-in. Jeff Suzanne S. Barnhill wrote: Add-ins can override your setting. Turned out to be a conflict with an add-in. Once I removed the add-in, all
was fine. Jeff RajKohli wrote: Once uncheck and recheck the "Startup Task Pane" option. See if this help else u can use CTRL+F1 as a shortcut key. Let us know! "Jeff" wrote: Thank you. Note that the Task Pane Controller (recommended in my previous post) would
allow you to have the task pane displayed or not, as you choose, even with add-ins. -- Suzanne S.
