I am writing up some SAP report generating scripts and I wish to include
images of the relevant icons. I have created a few by formatting screen
prints, but this makes the finished doc a very large file size.

Any document with graphics is going to grow large - but the simplest way of
extracting icon sized graphics is to use a good screen capture utility such
as SnagIt - there is a demo - which will even save in Windows ICO format
(though GIF or PNG are probably of more use).
