I am using Word 2003 and am building a large document from many small
documents, basically the Master Document concept without using the MD
€œfeature.€�

From the parent level documents I am inserting the child files by Insert
Link. I would like the parent document, which is read only to the reviewer,
to update each time it is open. The Update method for selected link, where I
should be able to select Automatic, is grayed out. Ive tried a variety of
different things, but cannot get this to be selectable.

Any advice or thoughts on how to get the document to update upon opening or
better ways of compiling large documents from smaller ones would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks much, Bill
