I keep getting File Conversion Encoding Dialog box when I open a word file in
office XP.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hi ?B?RWNvbg==?=,

I keep getting File Conversion Encoding Dialog box when I open a word file in
office XP.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Was the document created in Word 2002? Does this happen only with the one file,
or all files? Does the document open normally, other than displaying this
message?

I have a similar problem. I am using Office XP on windows 2000. When I open
any word document it shows me a file conversion dialog box. No matter which
option I select the text is garbled. When I click Reply in outlook the same
file conversion dialog box appears.

Please Help!
Thanks in Advance.

The problem doesn't sound familiar. My best guess would be a damaged
Normal.dot template, though.

If you hold down CTRL when starting Word, to go into Safe Mode, does the
problem go away for the moment?

Have you tried Help/Detect and Repair?
