Office XP service Pack 3 (outlook running in exchange)

I am having problems opening up embedded mail messages within word. As soon
as you double click on one of the messages, word automatically goes to not
responding. I have checked for spyware, deleted the normal.dot, removed and
reinstalled office and tried this across different profiles on the Windows 2k
sp4 machine. I have also stopped the print spooler from running and the
problem still persist. Any help would be great.
