trouble opening word 2000 files in word 2003
hi
i have recently upgraded to office 2003, and use word frequently. i have noticed though that a number of my old word documents created and saved in word 2000 will not open in word 2003, giving the error box: "word experience an arror trying to open the file try these uggestions 1. Check the file permissions for rht doc or drive 2. make sure sufficient memory 3. open the file with text recovery converter" what makes this weird is that, i can still open the files in word 2000 (tried it on a friends pc), but im unable to open them in 2003 any thoughts? thanks stuart |

Are you trying to open them from a floppy or other removable disk?

trouble opening word 2000 files in word 2003
Hi ?B?c3R1YXJ0?=,
Each version of Word uses a slightly different (optimized) file structure. If everything in the file is just right, they can all open and use documents created in another version (Word 97 through 2003). But if something is "off", it's possible that the originating version can still work with the file, but another version cannot. Try saving the file on the Word 2000 system to HTML and/or RTF and see if Word 2003 can't open that. i have recently upgraded to office 2003, and use word frequently. i have noticed though that a number of my old word documents created and saved in word 2000 will not open in word 2003, giving the error box: "word experience an arror trying to open the file try these uggestions 1.
