In a book format, how do I start page numbering on the 4th page of the book,
with page #1 at Chapter 1. ??

in order to omit page numbers in the front matter (as opposed to using a
different number format), you must unlink that headers/footers (see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm, if needed, for
instruction).
